A new superspace approach to the layered perovskite-related LanTin-δO3nand Srn(Nb,Ti)nO3n+2compound series

A new unified superspace approach to the structural characterization of two compositionally flexible compound series, La n Ti n-δ O 3n and Sr n (Nb,Ti) n O 3n+2 , is presented. To a first approximation, the structure of any compound within either compound series can be described in terms of the stacking of layers derived from the ideal perovskite structure. A unique superspace model for each compound series is shown to predict the space group and layer stacking sequence for any particular composition.
