Abstract
- The cut-off rate for a frequency selective fading and noise varying HF channel is evaluated. This novel result is used to evaluate the optimal signalling rates for noncoherent BFSK and differentially coherent DPSK modems. The guard time effect, usually employed in multipath spread channels, is considered and the optimal combination of signalling rate and guard time is evaluated.
