Abstract
- Calcium is involved in a number of cellular processes (Clapham, 1995) and many studies have implicated an effect of electromagnetic field (EMF) exposure on such processes. Several studies have also indicated that there may be a link between electromagnetic field exposure and human brain tumor (Hardell et al., 1995). Gap junction intercellular calcium signaling are believed to intervene in the control of cell proliferation and differentiation. For these reasons we believe that magnetic field (MF) effects on calcium waves mediated by gap junctions in astroglial primary culture cells from rat cortex should be interesting to study.
