Abstract

Fouling refers to the oozy substance accumulated on the surface. Fouling problems of plate heat exchangers are common and widely distributed in the field of energy and chemical industry. The accumulation of fouling deposition leads to many operational and safety problems of plate heat exchanger, such as increased flow resistance, decreased heat transfer performance, induced local corrosion under fouling layer and shortened heat exchanger operation life. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen the daily operation monitoring and fouling cleaning for plate heat exchanger. This paper reviews the current research development of plate heat exchanger fouling problem at home and abroad, as well as the common techniques and methods for fouling inhibition and mitigation from the perspective of fouling inhibition. Besides, the current existing problems of fouling inhibition technology are also summarized.
