Soil-water movement and balance in thick loess soils and its model simulation

An analysis of the soil-water movement and balance and its model simulation for the hydrological research basin Rippach (Kaiserstuhl Mountain, southwest F.R.G.) are presented. To quantify soil-water movement in thick loess soils, moisture values (measured by means of neutron probes) are analysed using a multi-layered simulation model of the one-dimensional soil-water balance. The results of the model calculation of two highly contrasting sites are compared.
