Abstract

The Chang’e-5 has carried out China’s first autonomous rendezvous and docking in lunar orbit. The guidance, navigation, and control system (GNC) plays an important role in this achievement. This paper introduces the composition of the GNC system and its working principles, in addition to rendezvous and docking (RVD) phase partition and the key technology involved. In addition, the first RVD flight result and its evaluation are presented.
