Flavanone derivatives from Macaranga tanarius

A new flavanone, epoxynymphaeol C ( 1 ), was isolated from the acetone extract of the leaves of Macaranga tanarius , together with two known compounds, nymphaeols B ( 2 ) and C ( 3 ). The structure of the new compound was determined by NMR and mass spectral data. Chemotaxonomic significance for the presence of the flavanone derivatives in M. tanarius is discussed.
