Abstract

The researchers decided to conduct a rapid scoping review to synthesize the importance of the evidence by mapping the knowledge about the cultural adaptation of psychotherapeutic interventions. The scoping review is becoming a more prominent method for summarizing research information (Levac et al. 2010; Daudt et al. 2013). It seeks to map the current literature in a topic of interest in terms of the main research features (Arksey and O'Malley, 2005; Pham et al., 2014). A scoping review of a body of literature can be especially useful when the problem has not yet been thoroughly studied or is complicated or diverse. It helps to investigate the scope of a research in a topic area; determine the value and potential scope and cost of conducting a full systematic review; summarize and disseminate research findings; and identify research gaps in the existing literature (Arksey & O'Malley, 2005; Levac et al. 2010). A scoping review may be utilized as a standalone project or as a first step to a systematic review since it provides a rigorous and transparent strategy for outlining topics of investigation (Arksey & O'Malley, 2005). With the completion of this study, the main objectives are 1) map the conceptualization of cultural adaptation of psychotherapeutic interventions and 2) describe the main steps of cultural adaptation of psychotherapeutic interventions. Also, the main research questions are; 1.What are the main steps of the cultural adaptation process of psychotherapeutic interventions in the context of psychiatry and psychology? 2.Why is the cultural adaptation needed to apply psychotherapeutic interventions in another population? 3.What are the factors that affect the cultural adaptation process?
