Abstract
- The treatment of choice for congenital biliary dilatation is complete excision with Roux-en-Y hepaticojejunostomy, a procedure that is now being performed laparoscopically. We describe our technique (laparoscopic dilated bile duct dissection, distal common bile duct ligation, intrahepatic bile duct and common channel protein plug clearance, and customizing the length of the Roux-en-Y loop) and discuss attendant issues from our wealth of experience of treating this condition using both open and minimally invasive surgery.
