Vertex Presentations in the Occipito-Posterior Position

Posterior position of the occiput occurs in 12.5 per cent of vertex presentations. It is usually associated with an attitude of incomplete flexion which is responsible for larger diameters of the foetal skull presenting at the pelvic brim and for abnormalities in uterine action.
