Abstract
- In this letter, the performance of digital communications systems over $\alpha $ - $\kappa $ - $\mu $ fading channels is analyzed in terms of outage probability, average channel capacity, and average error rate for a variety of modulation formats. To this end, novel and exact expressions for the aforementioned performance metrics are derived, based on which an asymptotic analysis is carried out. The derived expressions are valid for arbitrary values of the fading parameters, namely $\alpha $ , $\kappa $ , and $\mu $ , and their accuracies are validated through Monte Carlo simulations.
