Abstract
- Based on theoretical analysis of the literature and experimental research, the relationship between the types of accentuations of personality and its possible behavior in a conflict situation. Adolescents participated in this study. Thirty people were interviewed. To obtain the actual data of persons were interviewed by two methods: the first method – a questionnaire of character accentuations G. Shmishek, K. Leonhard; the second is a test to determine the style of behavior in a conflict situation K. Thomas. Character accentuations can be considered borderline variants of the norm, in which certain character traits are excessively enhanced, resulting in a selective vulnerability to a certain kind of psychogenic actions with good and even increased resistance to others. The style of behavior in a particular conflict is determined by how a person seeks to satisfy their own interests (acting passively or actively) and the interests of the other party (acting jointly or individually). Differences in the manifestations of the studied traits between men and women were revealed. There is a difference in dysthymic, cyclothymic, emotional, anxious, exalted and exciting type of character accentuation. Emotional and anxious types of character accentuation are more common among women. Dysthymic type of accentuation is more pronounced among men. It was also found that there is a gender difference in the following styles of behavior in conflict situations: rivalry and cooperation. The analysis showed that rivalry is inherent in men, while women are more likely to use a style of cooperation. A correlation analysis of the obtained research results was performed. Correlation analysis of the results of the study revealed some correlations between character accentuations and behavioral styles in conflict. There is a difference in correlations by gender. It has been established that the style of behavior in a conflict situation is a rivalry, more characteristic of a meticulously accentuated personality, which indicates a desire to adhere to certain strict rules of behavior and not to give in to one's own position. It was found that people with a predominance of emotional accentuation of character more often use the style of cooperation to resolve the conflict, which indicates a more tolerant attitude towards others. Recommendations are given to psychologists to work with people with different accentuations of character in a conflict situation.
