Abstract

Previously, using a cell culture system we have shown that heat shock proteins (HSPs) transported to the nucleus were revealed in association with the nuclear matrix (Akopov et al., 1986; Buldyaeva et al., 1986). We have found as well that whole body heating of rats induced alteration of liver nuclear matrix protein metabolism similar to that in cell culture under heat shock (Akopov et al., 1985). It is known that HSP synthesis leads to thermotolerance i.e. thermoresistancy of organisms or cells to usually lethal heating.
