Abstract

We have measured pressure vs temperature for 3 He in sintered silver below pressure of 20MPa and in the temperature range between 1.2 and 4.2K. The sintered silver has pores of 280nm in diameter. We also measured pressure for bulk 3 He in a separate cell simultaneously. 3 He in the sintered silver with molar volume more than 19.3 cm 3 shows pressure drop less than the corresponding drop in bulk solid at the bcc-hcp transformation. This means that the sample in the present sinter is not a perfect hcp crystal for molar volume more than 19.3 cm 3 . We report the behavior of solid 3 He in the sinter which is different from that of bulk solid.
