DIARRHŒA INFANTUM AND ALLIED DISORDERS

At the close of the last meeting of the Association, held in St. Louis, I promised Dr. Miller, the Chairman-elect of this Section, to write a short paper on this subject, which had been pressing itself upon my mind for several years, and with growing force since the discussion in the Academy of Medicine, of Paris, of Gautier's paper on the result of the very important—not to say startling—investigations of Selmi in 1877, including much original matter as presented by himself. Continued researches in this direction have only confirmed the principles enunciated by earlier workers. The discovery of tyrotoxicon by Prof. Vaughan, with the increasing number of suggestive cases and reports, seemed to me to justify the contribution I proposed to offer to this Section.
