DEVELOPMENT AND PERFORMANCE OF SOLAR WATER PUMPS

The performance of Air cooled solar water pump of 2600 litres/day has been studied over a period of seven months and the results and operational problems are discussed. A 1,20,000 litres/day, 12 meter lift, water cooled pump has been commissioned and its operational problems are reported. A new design called ‘Direct cooled pump’ of 100 litres/cycle and 10,000 litres/cycle has been constructed and installed to operate for a number of cycles in a day by simple modification of air cooled pump.
