A new genus of myrmicine ants (Hymenoptera: Formicidae) from Venezuela

Abstract

Based upon a single alate female the ant genus Bariamyrma from southern Venezuela is described as new. Recognized as a member of the lower Myrmicinae, its closest affinities with other myrmicines appear to be in the group of genera related to Lordomyrma.
