Photoluminescence and Crystallinity of High Quality CdS1−xSex Synthesized in Ammonium Water Medium

Abstract
- CdS1−xSex nanomaterial with high optical and structural quality has been synthesized in ammonium water via a simple hydrothermal reaction. Structural and compositional analyses suggest that the CdS1−xSex synthesized in ammonium water (NH3·H2O) medium has better crystallinity and more Se content compared with that of CdS1−xSex synthesized in sodium hydroxide (NaOH) solution medium. Photoluminescence spectra show that the CdS1−xSex synthesized in NH3·H2O solution exhibits stronger red luminescence than that of the CdS1−xSex synthesized in NaOH solution. Transmission electron microscopy confirms that the size of the CdS1−xSex synthesized in NH3·H2O solution is obviously larger than that of the CdS1−xSex synthesized in NaOH solution. Basing on these results, the mechanism of CdS1−xSex formed in NH3·H2O was compared with that of the CdS1−xSex synthesized in NaOH solution media.
