Effect of SiC reinforcement on the mechanical properties of Kevlar fiber based hybrid epoxy composites

Abstract
- The main aim of this study is to evaluate the mechanical properties of hybrid epoxy composites reinforced by using Nano Silica and Kevlar fiber. The weight percentages used as 1 wt%, 2 wt% and 3 wt% of Nano silica in epoxy composites and by altering the ratio of Kevlar fiber in epoxy resin the hybrid composites has been prepared. It was found that the incorporation of Nano Sic particles into the epoxy matrix improved the mechanical properties of the composites. Moreover, incorporating Kevlar fibers as an internal reinforcement layer enhanced the effect of mechanical properties of the epoxy composites reinforced.
