Abstract

The g-factor of the high-spin K-isomer at 2256.3 keV in 182Re has been measured through the in-beam time differential perturbed angular distribution technique. The measured value of the g-factor g = +0.239(8) indicates a four-quasiparticle configuration involving one proton and three neutron Nilsson states as opposed to previous assignments. The isomeric half-life, remeasured as T 1 2 =82(1) ns , corresponds to an unusually low K-hindrance factor. The decay mode of the isomer is discussed in connection with possible triaxiality.
