Abstract

carried out (N1). In 10/53 pt (19%), metachronous lesions were observed (one pt referred to surgery because of sm3 lesion, other pt treated endoscopically). Long-term CR rate in sm1 LR pt was 84% in the 61 pt with completion of ET (mean FU 42 months), and 77% in the intention-to-treat analysis of all 66 pt. Conclusions: According to this large series of patients with early Barrett’s cancer with sm1 invasion, the risk of LN metastasis in sm1 low-risk lesions is very low, and ER can be used effectively with high long-term remission rate. Therefore, ER is justified if all sm1 low-risk criteria are fulfilled, and if treatment is carried out in centers with high expertise and under study conditions.
