Harmonic oscillator spectrum for glueball states in 2 + 1 dimensions in the large N limit

Abstract
- We compute the energies of the glueball states in SU(N) field theory in 2 + 1 dimensions using Hamiltonian techniques. Using a new result which gives the integrals required analytically we are able to calculate for N ≤ 25, and find that the spectrum of the excited states, extrapolated to the N → ∞, is of the harmonic oscillator type. © 2004 Published by Elsevier B.V.
