Astronomical proportional control autoguidance system using the quadrant photosil detector

Abstract: A proportional control astronomical autoguider has been built using the low-noise photon-counting system described by Fegan and Craven (1977). The guider has a dynamic range of ten stellar magnitudes and has output options for driving either conventional or stepping motors. Proportional control is obtained in both cases.
