Abstract

Unsteady-state flow occurs when the flux and gradient are variable in both space and time. Such flow has more importance in wood treatments than steady-state flow, since it is present whenever a wood specimen is heated, evacuated, impregnated with liquids, or dried. In all these cases there is a net change in the conditions inside the specimen over a period of time.
