VECTOR-MESON RESONANCES AND PION POLARIZABILITIES

We discuss the pion polarizabilities α_π, β_π using a vector dominance model. We find that the commonly used constraint (α+β)_π = 0 is not admissible for the π^0. We show that the vector-meson contribution accounts for almost 70% of the π^0 forward angle dispersion sum rule.
