Abstract
- In this work, two simple, facile, and low cost microwave assisted simple and Pechini sol gel were applied to synthesize SiO2 nanoparticles. Through these processes, effect of different parameters on particles size and morphology were investigated. Formation time and size of product were remarkably reduced by using microwave. These nanoparticles show remarkable photocatalytic properties under irradiation with UV light. Obtained nanoparticles were also used as filler in two different polymeric matrixes (polycarbonate and polystyrene) and their flame retardancy properties were investigated to be unique.
