Abstract

Date Presented 03/27/20 Maternal caregiving, reflective functioning, and support during joint play were examined in an explanatory, sequential, mixed-methods study. Maternal caregiving predicated reflective functioning, which in turn predicted maternal support during joint play. Balancing of task-oriented and process-oriented behaviors framework explained dyadic synchrony observed during joint play. This study deepens our understanding of family relations and their effects on children’s emotional and social development.
