Soft X-Ray Images of Chromosomes Within Intact Tumor Cells Treated with Colchicine

To avoid possible effects of separation procedures from intact cells on morphologic structure of the chromosomes, cultivated Hep-2 tumor cells were treated with colchicine and observed for the first time by SXCM. The thread-like and coarse granular structures twine and tangle up together within chromosome masses and cannot easily be revealed in a Wright’s stained sample by LM or an osmium stained sample by TEM.
