Abstract

This paper is a study of a manufacturing procedure and the characteristics of steel plates (maximum thickness 100mm, YP>355N/mm 2 , TS>480–490N/mm 2 , service temperature −10 −50 °C class) designed for arctic service. As ocean development becomes more active, the properties required for steel plates become increasingly severe. To satisfy these requirements, a steel manufacturing technology capable of meeting the needs of users who demand high-quality products and ease of welding and fabrication has been developed. This new technology has made possible the manufacture of extra heavy plates (maximum thickness of 100 mm).
