Abstract
- Bronchial carcinoids are very rare and are characterized by slow endobronchial growth. They may attain huge size but are potentially curable with surgical resection. We report a 70-years-old male with massive life threatening hemoptysis and New York Heart Association (NYHA) class IV dyspnea. He underwent successful surgical resection of a giant typical carcinoid, which was compressing the pulmonary artery, completely obstructing the left bronchus and partially occluding the right bronchus.
