Abstract
- Successful research has been done to extract oil from Ketapang seeds that are converted to biofuel. The method used is Soxhletation and evaporation to get Ketapang seed oil which is continued with conversion to biofuel by catalytic hydrocracking method. Characterization of ZnO catalyst was performed by XRD instrument. From this study, it was found that Ketapang seeds can produce oil by 50.2% and after being tested with the GC-MS instrument found that Ketapang seed oil contains several compounds such as palmitic acid, ethyl oleate, etc. From the content, it can be concluded that Ketapang seed oil can be converted into biofuel. Biofuel produced through catalytic hydrocracking stages using ZnO with a ratio of 10:1 between Ketapang seed oil and catalyst which is seconded by hydrogen gas flow rate of 30ml/minute. The oil conversion results in the form of light and heavy fractions of gasoline such as n-hexane, heptane, octane, nonane, decane, undecane and, dodecane.
