Primer registro del gorrión común (Passer domesticus L. 1758) en el estado Sucre, Venezuela

Resumen. El gorrión común (Passer domesticus L., Passeridae) es una especie exótica en Venezuela, y se le considera una de las especies de ave más ampliamente distribuida a nivel global. En esta nota suministramos evidencia fotográfica de la presencia y anidación del gorrión común en el área urbana de Cumaná, estado Sucre, lo que eventualmente podría ser una prueba de su expansión en el nororiente venezolano, pues hasta ahora solo se había registrado en el estado Anzoátegui, y en la isla de Margarita (aún sin confirmar). Se necesita una monitorización permanente para investigar la dinámica poblacional e impacto ecológico del gorrión doméstico sobre otras especies de aves urbanas, en las diferentes ciudades del país donde se le ha registrado. First record of the house sparrow (Passer domesticus L. 1758) in Sucre state, Venezuela Abstract. The house sparrow (Passer domesticus L., Passeridae) is an exotic species in Venezuela, and it is considered one of the most widely distributed bird species globally. In this note we provide photographic evidence of the presence and nesting of the house sparrow in the urban area of Cumaná, Sucre state, which could eventually be proof of its expansion in northeastern Venezuela, since until now it had only been recorded in the Anzoátegui state and on the island of Margarita (not yet confirmed). Permanent monitoring is needed to investigate the population dynamics and ecological impact of the house sparrow on other urban bird species, in different cities of the country where it has been registered. &nbsp
