Abstract

The present-day fighter pilot is desired to have maximum awareness of his surroundings despite the excessive workload in a highly dynamic environment. So, it is necessary to provide him decision aiding tools that can help him perform the tasks without compromising on his mission. In-flight Route Replanning under High threat Air defence system is one such aid as part of the Decision Support System (DSS) that assists the pilot in evaluating the flight plan routes. It suggests alternate routes while flying in a hostile environment with ground based threats and incorporates survivability analysis to provide the probability of survival figure in a route encountered with threats. The best suited algorithm is surveyed and selected for the route replanning to escape threat encounter. Survivability of the replanned route is calculated to assert the benefit of replanning. The complete model is developed as simulation software which can analyse static threats with predefined lethalities intersecting the flight plan. The DSS is updated in real-time with the aircraft model developed in Flight Gear Flight Simulation software.
