Abstract

The present study aims to investigate how norm of equality (vs. inequality vs. control) and political ideology (general, economic, social and status-quo dimensions) interact in affecting prejudice towards migrants. Two types of threats, i.e., perceived threat from the outgroup and perceived threat of social change are examined as possible mediators. Need for social approval is measured as a possible moderator. This study aims to replicate and extend our previous study (10.17605/OSF.IO/8D6EW) and test a competing explanation by introducing a new control condition (in addition to the initial empty control).
