Abstract
- A surface wave-based planar endfire antenna with wideband performance is presented. Surface waves are excited and supported to propagate in a required direction in a surface-wave guide (SWG)-high impedance surface (HIS) hybrid structure. Four surface-wave modes are excited, and thus the antenna resonates at 4.5 and 5.5 GHz. The proposed antenna supports a operation band from 4.08 to 5.72 GHz and the realized gains in a range of 5.75 ~ 7.05 dBi.
