Abstract
- This paper investigates transportation of the sheet electron beam with high compression in the micro-sized tunnel of a sub- THz traveling-wave tube. It is known that intense spatially developed electron beams (for example, sheet and annular ones) are subject to diocotron instability, which causes the beam breakup and deposition on the tunnel walls. In view of this phenomenon, we designed an electron-optic system, which provides formation of a spatially developed electron beam and its stable transportation to the distances sufficient to obtain the required output power and gain.
