Abstract

Introduction: What will be the prevalence of dyschromatopsia in aviator pilots and their relation to aeronautica llabor factors?, comparative study. Introduction. Persons with defects in the perception of colors make more mistakes, take more time to react, and need tobe nearer to the colored objects, compared with who see colors in a normal way, this deficiency is named dyschromatopsia or commonly called Daltonism, in honorto John Dalton (1794)1. Objective: Determinate the prevalence of dyschromatopsia in the flying pilots and itsrelation with aeronautical labor factors. Methods: It was realized a comparative study in three study groups, two groups of flying pilots and a control group, through the use of two methods to diagnose: the Ishihara plates and the Farnsworth Munsell 100 Hue and the first stage of a labor situational diagnostic was carried out to identify, reckon up, define and analyze risks that could explain the probable causes of acquired dyschromatopsia. Results: The prevalence of dyschromatopsia in flying pilots and the control group, for this study, was similar to that described in the literature. The frequency of acquired color blindness was higher in the group of rotary wing pilots. Conclusion: It was found statistical association between alcohol consumption and acquired dyschromatopsia.
