Abstract
- Reservoir bitumen is not readily identified on typical log suit, where is usually read as oil reservoir. We comparatively analyze the experimental data of the nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) before and after the dissolving of bitumen-rich samples. The short transverse relaxation times (T2) are characteristics of bitumen-rich zones, and the NMR porosity is relative abundance of bitumen in reservoir. A volumetric rock model was used to reconcile core data as well as to calculate the saturation of reservoir bitumen. The NMR log can be applied more reliably to reservoir evaluation and production planning.
