Abstract: Our experimental study provides a rationale for using the left-side cerebral ischaemia method to assess the neuroprotective activity of new compounds. We developed efficacy criteria to assess neuroprotective activity based on the following biochemical measurements: (1) cerebral lipid peroxidation products indamaged and healthy hemispheres; (2) total albumin, urea, medium-sized peptides, cholesterol, and total lipids in blood serum.
