Abstract

The separation of various isotopic molecules with deuterium substitutions is reported. Columns with porous polymer beads (Porapak Q) are employed. A comparison is made between this packing material and other adsorbents, as graphitized carbon black or silica gel. High separation factors are obtained. The working temperatures are usually higher with respect to the other materials, but the isotopic effects measured with the Porapak are more favourable for many of these separations.
