Abstract

Slugs are perhaps the most widely known of all the pests that attack cultivated plants. They cause serious damage on farms, in gardens and on allotments. Although few crops escape attack, autumn-sown cereals and maincrop potatoes are the worst affected. Other farm crops often severely damaged are peas, clover, reseeded ryegrass, and root crops, especially in the seedling stages. Many kinds of vegetables and flowers are also damaged.
