Abstract
- Introduces the use of a chromatic triad of hue (H), saturation (S) and light intensity value (V) to uniquely and immediately identify the photoelastic fringe value of all points in a camera's field of view. Digital video images are obtained through a reflective white-light polariscope and converted to H,S,V. A multivariate approach is used, and some filtering of the data is required. The system is suitable for both static and dynamic loads.
