Abstract
- Langmuir films of parent polypyrrole were investigated using surface pressure and surface potential isotherms, which showed that the films are not true monomolecular layers but multilayer stacks instead. The mean molecular area increased with decreasing subphase temperatures, but it did not change significantly when the compression speed was varied. These Langmuir films could be transferred onto solid substrates in the form of Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) films, with no need to mix the parent polypyrrole with builder materials such as cadmium stearate. Multilayer LB films were characterized by UV-vis, FTIR, surface potential and conductivity measurements.
