Abstract

Summary: Three pigmented flagellates: Gloeomonas mamillosa, Lobomonas tubulata (Chlamydomonadales, Chlorophyceae) and Strombomonas quadrangularis (Euglenales, Euglenophyceae) are described as new taxa from material collected in two freshwater bodies located in the Municipality of Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro State, southeastern Brazil.
