Abstract

Background The purpose of our study was to explore the relationship between body weight and short- and long-term clinical outcomes in patients with sepsis. Methods We retrospectively analyzed 11,499 patients with sepsis at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (Boston, MA, USA) registered in the Medical Information Market Intensive Care (MIMIC-III) database from 2001 to 2012. Cox proportional hazards regression assessed the relationships between body mass index and 30-day and 1-year mortality.
