Abstract
- The dependence of the effects of stimulation on the rate of rise of the electric current was known to the very first investigators who studied the laws governing the action of an electric current on excitable tissues (Du Bois Reymond, 1848; Pfluger, 1859; Fick, 1863; Engelman, 1870; Werigo, 1888). It was also established that with a decrease in the rate of rise of the stimuli below a certain limit no excitation whatever takes place.
