The Inhalant Dilemma: A Theoretical Perspective

SUMMARY A comprehensive model describing drug abuse behavior is presented which incorporates biological, social and psychological domains. Within the structure of this interactive model, specific drug related phenomena are discussed, including inhalant abuse, cultural factors (with an emphasis on Alaskan Natives) and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Future research needs are addressed with the presentation of several hypotheses derived from the model.
