Abstract

A simple system for continuous mass rearing of Rhagoletis pomonella (Walsh) was developed by using all sizes of ‘Golden Delicious’ apples as the larval rearing medium. From 25,000 to 50,000 pupae per week can be produced with about 20 hours of labor. A 10-fold net increase per generation was achieved easily. About 9 generations were completed in 1½ years.
