Autodisplay; Automotive Display System An Intelligent Audio-visual Solution To The Integration Of Driver Information and Communication

In this paper, an over of the development of car instrumentation is given, followed by a view of the future requirements for Man-Machine Interface in the car based on existing and planned functions. The different display technologies are briefly characterized for usability in automotive instrumentation systems, and arguments are given for the change from electromechanical meters and indicator lamps, to a reconfigurable graphic display system as the only source for dashboard information.
