Mass spectrometric studies of antibiotics—I

The mass spectra of the four known mitomycin antibiotics, mitomycin A, B, C, porfiromycin, and four related compounds are reported. Characteristic fragmentation patterns for this group of antibiotics are discussed. The nature of major fragment ions from the aziridine ring has been established via deuterium labeling.
